Drilling Services

Our drilling services form the foundation of oil & gas exploration and production. We provide comprehensive well drilling solutions on land and offshore, using advanced rigs and drilling technology. Effective drilling operations connect exploration to production, since only by drilling can subsurface reservoirs be accessed and validated. We employ robust drilling fluid systems and well-control equipment (such as blowout preventers) to maintain safe, efficient well trajectories and mitigate risks.

Onshore Drilling

Onshore drilling uses land-based rigs to drill wells through rock formations and reach oil and gas reservoirs. Modern onshore operations typically employ rotary drilling with a rotating bit, mud pumps, and drill pipe strings. The process starts with clearing and leveling the site, driving a large-diameter conductor casing to stabilize the top of the well, and then drilling deeper with progressively smaller drill bits. Drilling mud is circulated to stabilize the borehole, carry rock cuttings to the surface, and control pressure. A blowout preventer is installed to maintain well control.

Offshore Drilling

Offshore drilling is conducted from marine platforms or floating rigs to tap reservoirs beneath the ocean floor. We use Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs) such as jackup rigs, semi-submersibles, and drillships to explore in water depths from tens of meters to several kilometers. A marine riser connects the rig to the subsea wellhead, allowing drilling fluid to circulate between the rig and the seafloor. Multiple steel casing strings are cemented in place to reinforce the wellbore as drilling proceeds. A subsea blowout preventer (BOP) on the ocean floor provides critical well-control. Offshore rigs are equipped for harsh marine environments and deploy dynamic positioning or anchoring systems to maintain stability in deepwater.

Directional Drilling

Directional drilling involves steering the wellbore off vertical to reach targeted reservoir zones. By drilling at angles or horizontally, directional wells increase the contact length within the reservoir, improving hydrocarbon recovery. This enables multiple laterals from a single surface location and access to reserves under obstacles (such as lakes, urban areas, or offshore fields) that vertical wells cannot reach. Modern downhole motors and MWD (Measurement While Drilling) tools allow real-time geosteering along the planned path. Horizontal drilling (a specific form of directional drilling) has unlocked previously uneconomic reservoirs by combining with hydraulic fracturing.

Drilling Safety & Compliance

Safety is paramount in drilling, and operations adhere to strict standards to protect people and the environment. Our teams follow industry regulations (API, ISO) and government requirements, and use multiple safety barriers to prevent incidents. Equipment includes redundant blowout preventers, pressure monitoring systems, and kill-plugs to maintain well control at all times. Personnel undergo comprehensive training and always use personal protective equipment (PPE). In the wake of events like the Deepwater Horizon blowout, regulators such as the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) have implemented stringent well-control and spill-containment rules. We continuously update our safety management systems and technology to meet or exceed these evolving standards.
